Keep up to date with what is on at the club in the coming months at a glance
There was a real air of excitement and anticipation at the bar with the prospect of defeating Endeavour Hills a real possibility. George flew over from WA to do his bit for the cause as a guest player. Rumor has it that Carl, taking a very strategic approach to the season, offered the services of Hilly to University to ensure Quins were defeated in order to soften them up for when we play them. This didn’t help our own cause with our backs going down like ninepins as Hilly meandered around the field with the students. Still, he is an academic and probably feels more at home with them.
Our newest recruit to make his debut on 26 May is Jamie Meyers recently returned from a stint in Vietnam. Jamie played first grade with the club as a brilliant winger as well as playing a key role in the U18 and Colts premierships of 1980 and 1981. Jamie has played with the Unquenchables in Bangkok on several occasions and was a witness to the remarkable try Dennis scored last year. Jamie is one of the few who pass the ball to Dennis. And speaking of tries, Dennis will be running a session on how to score tries at a special training seminar next week. Contact him for details as places are limited.
God’s gift to women, Lover Boy Terry played on Saturday despite broken ribs. This man is simply amazing. He also passes the ball to Dennis.
Clive also continues to amaze us with his gift for being clobbered about the head whenever he plays with the Unquenchables. Last week was no exception. He keeps on coming back for more. It even happens when he plays in Bangkok Some blokes never learn.
Stuart was inspirational as captain last week. Stuart ordered a penalty shot just before half time which so riled up Endeavour Hills that they immediately struck back with a converted try. Stuart you are supposed to rile the Unquenchables up, not the opposition.
Part time player Walshie should be fronting up this week for a game as the recent rains have softened the ground. On a final note, how many “home” ground players will come out of the woodwork this week?
See you at the bar.
